Maserati GranCabrio Review 2024, Price & Specs

Maserati’s Second-Generation GranTurismo: A Closer Look

Maserati’s second-generation GranTurismo coupe is the tin-top sister car of the GranCabrio, both of which utilize the same mixed-metal model platform that was specifically designed to accommodate both open and closed applications, as well as an electric version, starting in 2017.

Measuring nearly five meters in length, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio are considered large cars in the two-door GT coupe/cabrio class. This extra length allows for ample space for passengers, making them standout in their class.

While the GranTurismo offers a slightly less powerful V6 Modena model, the GranCabrio is available in either a 542bhp V6 Trofeo model or a more expensive, three-motor, 750bhp all-electric Folgore model. All GranCabrios come equipped with four-wheel drive and utilize air suspension with adaptive damping.

Due to its convertible nature, the GranCabrio Trofeo requires additional chassis reinforcements compared to the Folgore model, which benefits from the structural stiffness provided by its drive battery. Despite this, the GranCabrio still weighs only 100kg more than its closed-top counterpart, bringing its total weight close to two tonnes with a driver and fuel on board.

Design plays a significant role in the appeal of the GranCabrio, with the car boasting a low bonnet line and overall elegant look. The wide ‘cofango’ clamshell-style bonnet adds to the car’s sleek appearance, complemented by Maserati’s use of smoked chrome for the highlights. Additionally, customers can choose from a variety of colored hoods, including black, blue, grey, ‘greige’, or ‘granata’ red.
