Nio Firefly interior exposed ahead of car’s unveiling at Nio Day

Nio’s third brand, Firefly, is generating a lot of buzz in China as the interior of the first model has been revealed ahead of its official debut at Nio Day in Guangzhou on December 21. The interior design of Firefly showcases a two-screen layout, with a horizontally mounted screen in the center of the dashboard and a small steering wheel column-mounted instrument display panel. Unlike the Onvo L60, Firefly opts for a more traditional layout with a focus on simplicity and functionality.

The steering wheel of Firefly features a flattened bottom and top, with two circular control areas that enhance the driving experience. The exact details of these controls are not clearly visible in the leaked images. The brand name Firefly seems to be the internal code name for Nio’s third brand, and it is speculated that the first car under this brand will also be named Firefly. The drive selector is mounted on a stalk on the steering wheel column, adding a touch of modernity to the interior design.

The overall color scheme of the Firefly interior appears to be predominantly gray, with non-leather seats and a movable center armrest that is not directly connected to the center console. This design choice reflects a focus on comfort and practicality for the driver and passengers. Firefly is positioned as a high-end brand, similar to Nio’s positioning in the market, and deliveries of the new model are expected to commence in the first half of 2025.

There were rumors circulating that the Firefly model would be an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) rather than a fully electric model, but Nio has denied these claims. Reports suggest that the car will have battery swapping capability, although this feature may be incompatible with Nio’s current battery swap stations. Firefly is originally designed with the European market in mind, but due to EV tariffs imposed by the EU, Nio may focus more on the Chinese market initially.

Overall, the interior design of the Firefly model showcases a blend of modern technology, comfort, and functionality. With its sleek design and advanced features, Firefly is set to make a mark in the competitive electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates on Firefly as Nio prepares to unveil this exciting new model at Nio Day.
