CATL Launches Four New Models of Heavy-Duty Tectrans Batteries for Commercial Vehicles

On November 25, CATL unveiled four new models of the heavy-duty Tectrans battery, also known as Tianxing in the Chinese market. These batteries are specifically designed for heavy-duty commercial vehicles and construction machinery, addressing industry challenges such as short battery life and slow energy replenishment rates.

The new Tectrans batteries feature a high-voltage architecture of 1,000V, which enhances charging speeds by 43% and reduces energy loss by 50%.

CATL outlines the four different series of Tectrans batteries.

The CATL Tectrans Heavy Commercial Vehicle—Super Rechargeable Battery boasts a peak charging capacity of 4C, allowing it to reach 70% capacity in just 15 minutes. With a long life of 1.2 million kilometers and a cruising range of up to 500 kilometers, this 600 kWh pack is ideal for scenarios like mining transportation, significantly reducing charging times and improving revenue.

The CATL Tectrans Heavy Commercial Vehicle—Long Life Edition battery offers an impressive lifespan of 15 years and up to 3 million kilometers. Designed to withstand the pressures of frequent charging and discharging in high-energy scenarios, this battery is suitable for long-distance transportation and heavy loads, with a range of up to 500 km.

For applications requiring an extended range, the CATL Tectrans Heavy Commercial Vehicle—Long-Range Battery features a 1000 kWh capacity, providing an ultra-long range of 800 km. With high energy density and a design that fits seamlessly into the chassis layout, this battery is ideal for express delivery and transportation services that require a broader service radius.

The CATL Tectrans Heavy Commercial Vehicle—High Strength Edition Battery is optimized for the construction machinery industry, offering high safety and durability even after 500,000 km of use in mining truck applications. This version meets the IP68 waterproof standard and features an armor coating that protects against corrosion and harsh conditions.

At the launch event, Gao Huan, CTO of CATL’s domestic commercial vehicle division, highlighted a successful case where a truck equipped with CATL batteries operated for a full week without recharging at a copper mine, resulting in a 30% reduction in operating costs.

CATL introduced the Tectrans battery brand in July this year, showcasing the Tectrans B and Tectrans L series of batteries. The company continues to innovate in the electric vehicle battery market, catering to the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.
