Audi A6 e-tron first drive: power, range, and luxury in a sleek design

Audi has been making waves in the electric vehicle market with their new lineup of next-gen electric cars. The Audi A6 e-tron is their latest addition, based on the new PPE platform, and it’s turning heads with its power, luxury, and impressive range.

The A6 e-tron boasts a sleek design and is the most aerodynamic Audi ever, with a 0.21 drag coefficient in its most aerodynamic configuration. While North America won’t get the side mirror-replacing cameras, the 0.23 drag coefficient on the NA version is still impressive. With a 100 kWh battery pack, the A6 offers an EPA range of 370 miles with 20″ wheels, and up to 390 miles with 19″ wheels.

One of the key features that contribute to the A6’s impressive range and efficiency is its strong regenerative braking system. Audi offers a variety of regen braking strengths and modes, including one-pedal driving mode, which makes the car more efficient and fun to drive.

In terms of performance, the A6 comes in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. The basic rear-wheel drive model delivers 270 kW of power, while the S6 performance version offers a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with 370 kW for a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds.

Charging the A6 is a breeze with its peak charge rate of 270 kW. The charging curve is impressive, making it a great road trip car. However, the lack of NACS integration in North America means A6 owners will need an adapter to use the Supercharger network.

Despite not having US pricing yet, the EU pricing for the upper mid-range models starts at 75,600 euros for the A6 Sportback e-tron performance. The S6 Sportback e-tron costs 99,500 euros.

Overall, the Audi A6 e-tron promises to be a strong contender in the EV market with its range, efficiency, luxury features, and impressive charging capabilities. It’s a car that is sure to turn heads and make a statement on the road.
