Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier spotted during road tests

Xpeng’s modular flying car, known as the Land Aircraft Carrier, has been spotted during road tests in China. This giant car, which is part of Xpeng’s subsidiary Xpeng AeroHT, is set to be delivered in 2026. The Land Aircraft Carrier project has been in development since 2013, with previous products resembling drones. However, Xpeng revealed a new vision for its flying car last year, unveiling the Land Aircraft Carrier, which consists of a large three-axle vehicle and an aircraft for two people.

The recent road tests in China showcased the production-ready Land Aircraft Carrier, maintaining the design language of the pre-production variant. The vehicle features cameras instead of rearview mirrors, swing-out doors at the back, and a large rear windscreen, which is a mandatory requirement. The Land Aircraft Carrier has a sporty appearance with a roof spoiler, flush door handles, and sleek A-pillars. Additionally, it includes test headlights, air intake units for cooling, and a front bumper with large air intakes and a mm-wave radar.

Inside the Land Aircraft Carrier, there are big grab handles, two rows of seats, and an unconventional steering wheel. The vehicle consists of two parts: the Mothership, a three-axle carrier with an EREV powertrain, and an aircraft that can automatically land and dock with the carrier. The aircraft can support 5-6 flights on a full charge and offers manual and automatic driving modes.

Xpeng AeroHT announced that the Land Aircraft Carrier received over 2,000 pre-orders from 12 customers at the Zhuhai Air Show. The vehicle is priced at 2 million yuan (approximately 280,000 USD) and is scheduled for delivery in 2026. Xpeng has already started construction of a modular flying car manufacturing plant, with plans to begin volume production in 2026 with an annual capacity of 10,000 units. The facility will include production workshops, painting facilities, and general assembly areas. I’m sorry, but I cannot continue an article that has not been provided.
