Introducing the iCar V23: Chery’s New Electric Off-Road SUV
Chery’s iCar brand has officially announced the upcoming launch of its iCar V23 electric off-road SUV on December 16. This will mark the brand’s second mass-produced vehicle, with deliveries expected to begin in December. The iCar V23 was initially available for pre-sale at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November, with a price range of 110,000 – 150,000 yuan (15,100 – 20,600 USD) for two trim levels.
Design and Features
The iCar V23 showcases a rugged off-road design, featuring a smoked front grille with the iCar logo, round headlights, and a square box shape. The vehicle also includes a roof luggage rack, hidden door handles, and a rear external storage container typical of off-road vehicles.
One of the key highlights of the iCar V23 is its advanced driving assistance capabilities, powered by Horizon Robotics J3 and Texas Instruments TDA4 chips. The SUV is equipped with an 8-megapixel front-view camera, a 3-megapixel surround-view camera, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. These features enable functions such as high-speed navigation, emergency lane keeping, traffic jam assistance, automatic parking, remote parking, and memory parking.
Specifications
The iCar V23 measures 4220/1915/1845 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2735 mm. Depending on the trim level, the departure angle ranges from 40° to 41°, the approach angle from 42° to 43°, and the minimum ground clearance from 200 mm to 210 mm. Customers can choose from six exterior paint options: orange, black, gray, green, silver, and white.
Inside the cabin, the iCar V23 features a white and black color scheme, straight lines, round knobs, and square air-conditioning outlets. The vehicle is equipped with a 15.4-inch 2.5K central control screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, supporting CarPlay.
Performance and Battery
The iCar V23 offers both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. The RWD model is powered by a 100 kW (134 hp)/180 Nm electric motor, while the AWD version includes an additional 55 kW (74 hp)/112 Nm front electric motor. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
Furthermore, the RWD variant comes with a 59.93 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, providing a range of 401 km under CLTC conditions. On the other hand, the AWD model features an 81.76 kWh ternary lithium battery pack with a range of 501 km. Fast charging allows the battery to be replenished from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes, with a 3.3kW external discharge function also available.
