Hyundai has announced the appointment of Randy Parker as the new CEO of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America, effective from 1 January 2025. Parker, who currently serves as the CEO of Hyundai Motor America, will be responsible for leading all operations and functions in the US, Canada, and Mexico for Hyundai, as well as in the US and Canada for Genesis. Additionally, he will oversee Hyundai’s manufacturing facilities in Alabama and Georgia.

Parker will be taking over from José Muñoz, who has been promoted to president and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. Muñoz praised Parker as an outstanding leader with a proven track record in driving sales growth and serving various stakeholders effectively.

Parker joined Hyundai in 2019 as vice-president of national sales and was later promoted to senior vice-president in February 2021. In August 2022, he became the CEO of Hyundai Motor America, making history as the first African American to lead a major OEM regional market. Prior to his time at Hyundai, Parker held leadership roles at General Motors (GM), GM Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), Nissan, and Infiniti.

Expressing his excitement about his new role, Parker stated, “It’s an honour to lead Hyundai and Genesis in North America and build on our growth trajectory. North America has become one of the most important markets for Hyundai globally. We have a clear vision to deliver outstanding products and elevate the customer experience, while being flexible to changing consumer demands and marketplace dynamics.”

As Parker transitions into his new position, the automotive industry will be closely watching the strategic direction he takes Hyundai and Genesis in North America. His extensive experience and proven leadership skills make him a valuable asset to the company as it continues to innovate and adapt to the evolving market landscape.
