Xpeng, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker listed on the NYSE under the ticker symbol XPEV, is making significant strides in its global expansion efforts. The company has recently shipped its second batch of G6 SUVs to Australia and unveiled its first flagship showroom in the country.

The partnership between Xpeng and Australian distributor TrueEV paved the way for the company’s entry into the Australian auto market. The official launch event took place on December 16, marking the completion of the Xpeng Center Sydney. Situated at 2 Sir Reginald Ansett Drive Mascot NSW 2020, the flagship showroom covers an impressive 3,000 square meters and is strategically located at the entrance to Sydney Airport’s domestic precinct.

TrueEV CEO Jason Clarke announced plans for the opening of three more Xpeng Centers in Australia by the end of 2024. This initiative is part of a larger strategy to establish a strong presence in the Australian market, with a total of 20 stores expected to be operational by the end of 2025.

The G6 SUV, which Xpeng introduced in China on June 29, 2023, has garnered significant attention as a formidable competitor to Tesla’s Model Y. Priced starting from RMB 199,900 in China, the G6 offers both left-hand drive and right-hand drive variants, making it a versatile option for consumers in over 30 countries and regions. The availability of the G6 in Australia further solidifies Xpeng’s commitment to expanding its global footprint.

In addition to its overseas expansion efforts, Xpeng continues to achieve remarkable milestones in its home market. The company recently reported delivering 30,895 cars in November, marking the third consecutive month of record-breaking performance.

As Xpeng forges ahead with its international expansion plans, the opening of 20 Xpeng Centers in Australia by the end of 2025 is set to enhance the accessibility of its innovative EV offerings to a broader audience. With a focus on cutting-edge technology and sustainable mobility solutions, Xpeng is poised to make a lasting impact on the global automotive industry.
