Hyundai has unveiled its latest electric SUV, the IONIQ 9, and the flagship Calligraphy trim is turning heads with its futuristic design and top-tier features. Recently, a new all-black model of the IONIQ 9 Calligraphy was spotted in California, giving us a closer look at this high-end option on the road.
The IONIQ 9 is Hyundai’s first three-row electric SUV, boasting a spacious interior that has been likened to a “living room on wheels.” The vehicle features Hyundai’s innovative “Aerosthetic” design, with a streamlined roof and sleek exterior elements that create a futuristic look. The front LED lights and bumper are adorned with Parametric Pixels, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the SUV.
Available in S, SE, SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy trim options, the top-tier model offers exclusive design features such as 21″ wheels, a microfiber suede roof trim, a premium cargo sill plate, a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10″ Head-Up Display (HUD), and a full-display mirror FDM with HomeLink.
A preproduction IONIQ 9 Calligraphy was recently captured testing in the US by KindelAuto, showcasing the vehicle’s sleek design and advanced features. The SUV is slightly smaller than competitors like the Rivian R1S, measuring 199.2″ long, 78″ wide, and 70.5″ tall. Powered by a 110.3 kWh battery pack, the IONIQ 9 boasts an EPA-estimated range of 335 miles on the WLTP cycle.
Hyundai plans to release the three-row electric SUV in the US and Korea in the first half of 2025, with a global rollout to markets like Europe to follow. Production will take place at Hyundai’s new manufacturing plant in Georgia, alongside the updated 2025 IONIQ 5. Pricing details for the IONIQ 9 will be announced closer to its launch date.
