Xpeng CEO Sets Key Tasks for 2025, Prepares for Tougher Competition
Xpeng chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, recently outlined the company’s key tasks for 2025 in an internal letter to employees. He emphasized the need to prepare for more intense competition in the market ahead.
Mr. He’s letter, obtained by CnEVPost, highlighted his prediction of an impending price war in the industry starting in January 2025. He pointed out that China’s auto industry will undergo a phase of elimination from 2025 to 2027, leading to increased competition and challenges for companies.
As the penetration of new energy vehicles (NEVs) continues to rise, Mr. He stressed the importance of extreme cost control and differentiation in product offerings to stay competitive. He also noted that companies lacking intelligence and core competencies, such as comprehensive R&D and marketing capabilities, will struggle to sustain growth in the evolving market.
One of Xpeng’s core tasks for the next three years is to enhance its “systemization capabilities.” This involves systemic innovation to expand the company’s upper and lower-limit capabilities while achieving a balance in overall performance.
Artificial intelligence (AI) was highlighted as a key focus for Xpeng, with Mr. He aiming for the company to become a leading global AI car company over the next decade. This includes leadership in product development, business operations, organizational structure, and global expansion.
In terms of international expansion, 2025 will mark the acceleration of Xpeng’s internationalization strategy. The company currently operates in 30 countries and regions, with plans to expand to over 60 by the end of next year. Mr. He envisions half of Xpeng’s sales coming from overseas markets in the next decade, positioning the company as the top Chinese mid-to-high-end NEV brand in terms of global sales share.
Product innovation is also a key focus for Xpeng in 2025, with plans to launch new or updated models almost every quarter. These new products, developed over years, are expected to set new industry standards in terms of technical capabilities.
To support its growth and competitiveness, Xpeng plans to hire over 6,000 new employees in 2025. The company welcomes the return of former employees and encourages current staff to reach out to former colleagues to rejoin the team.
Overall, Xpeng’s strategic roadmap for 2025 emphasizes the importance of innovation, differentiation, global expansion, and talent acquisition to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market. The company is gearing up for a period of intense competition and market challenges, with a focus on building sustainable growth and leadership in the industry.
