Leapmotor launches new C16 SUV variants with longer range

Leapmotor, a prominent player in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, has recently introduced two new battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants for its C16 model. These new variants are aimed at providing customers with an extended range option, catering to those who prioritize longer driving distances.

Priced at RMB 172,800 ($23,590) and RMB 189,800 respectively, these two new C16 variants boast an impressive CLTC range of 580 kilometers. This upgrade in range is made possible by equipping the vehicles with a larger battery pack compared to the previous BEV variants, which had a range of 520 kilometers.

The C16 model was initially launched on June 28, 2024, featuring both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and BEV variants. The EREV options were available at starting prices of RMB 155,800, RMB 162,800, and RMB 179,800, while the previous BEV variants started at RMB 161,800, RMB 168,800, and RMB 185,800. With the introduction of the new long-range BEV variants, customers can now enjoy an upgraded driving experience with a higher range capability.

Both new variants are equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a capacity of 74.9 kWh, offering the extended CLTC range of 580 kilometers. Additionally, the higher-priced variant includes a 128-channel LiDAR system, providing enhanced safety features.

All EREV and BEV variants of the C16 are powered by a single-motor rear-wheel-drive system, allowing the BEV variant to accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour in just 6.37 seconds. The model’s dimensions measure 4,915 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,770 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm.

To incentivize customers, Leapmotor is offering various discounts and subsidies for those who order and take delivery of the long-range BEV variants before January 31. These incentives include a discount of RMB 5,000, a RMB 5,000 interest reduction on financing, a RMB 5,000 trade-in subsidy, and a RMB 7,000 option subsidy.

In terms of sales performance, Leapmotor has been experiencing significant growth, with deliveries reaching 42,517 vehicles in December alone, marking a 128.37 percent year-on-year increase and a 5.85 percent month-on-month increase. For the full year 2024, the company delivered a total of 293,724 vehicles, reflecting a remarkable 103.76 percent growth.

Overall, the introduction of the new C16 long-range BEV variants showcases Leapmotor’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the rapidly evolving EV market. With a focus on extended range, advanced technology, and attractive incentives, these new variants are set to appeal to a wide range of customers seeking a high-performance and eco-friendly driving experience.
