China FAW Group’s Hongqi brand has unveiled the Tiangong 08, a new all-electric mid-to-large-size SUV that promises an impressive blend of performance, range, and affordability. The SUV is part of Hongqi’s Tiangong modular platform, which caters to various vehicle types including compact cars, large-size cars, SUVs, MPVs, and crossover models.

The Tiangong 08 comes in five different variants, with prices starting at RMB 239,800 ($32,730) for the base model. The SUV measures 4,925 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

One standout feature of the Tiangong 08 is its range options, depending on the battery pack chosen. The SUV is available with three battery pack options, offering a CLTC range of 520 km to 730 km. The base variant comes with a 75 kWh LFP battery pack, while the top two variants feature a 111 kWh Li-ion ternary battery pack.

The powertrain options include single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive configurations. The single-motor versions deliver a peak motor power of 253 kW and peak torque of 450 Nm, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.3 seconds. On the other hand, the dual-motor versions boast a total peak power of 455 kW and peak torque of 756 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

In terms of charging capabilities, the Tiangong 08 supports fast charging and can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in as little as 20 minutes. This makes it convenient for users who need to quickly top up their battery on the go.
