Renault Filante Record 2025: Pushing the Boundaries of Electric Efficiency
The new Renault Filante Record 2025 concept is not just a car, but a piece of rolling electric lab equipment that is designed to set new records for energy efficiency, power consumption, and range. Built around an 87 kWh li-ion battery, similar to the one used in the Renault Scenic E-Tech electric car, this single-seat technology demonstrator is a marvel of minimalist design engineering and lightweight composite materials, weighing in at an impressive 1000 kg, with 600 kg of that mass coming from the battery itself.
Inspired by the 1926 Renault 40 CV des records, which set speed records at the track in Montlhéry, France, between 1924 and 1926, the Renault Filante Record 2025 features a special new “Ultraviolet Blue” paint that changes color between blue and purple, giving the impression of movement even when stationary. The design, a collaboration between stylists and aerodynamicists, aims to evoke the same sense of speed and newness as its century-old predecessor.
The concept includes bespoke 3D-printed parts, unique prototype tires with reduced friction, and advanced technologies like steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire, which are expected to make their way into the next generation of Renault EVs. The Renault Filante Record 2025 will be showcased at the RĂ©tromobile motor show in Paris before real-world test sessions to break new efficiency records in the coming months.
