Volvo has confirmed that a more rugged Cross Country version of the Volvo EX30 electric crossover will be hitting U.S. dealerships later this year. This marks the first time that the Cross Country name will be applied to an all-electric model, with Volvo showcasing a concept version of the EV in Cross Country trim back in 2023. Now, the production EX30 Cross Country has been unveiled, featuring darkened front and rear panels, wheel arch extensions, 18-inch wheels that can be fitted with all-terrain tires, and increased ground clearance compared to the standard EX30.
The exterior of the production EX30 Cross Country remains largely unchanged from the concept version, with skid plates included as well. Volvo also plans to offer Cross Country Experience option packages with accessories like a roof basket, a load carrier, and mud flaps to enhance the rugged look of the vehicle. On the inside, the interior of the EX30 Cross Country closely resembles other versions of the EX30, though some have noted that it may not fully embody Volvo’s premium positioning.
Under the hood, a dual-motor powertrain will come standard in the EX30 Cross Country, although Volvo has not disclosed whether it will match the current Twin Motor Performance powertrain’s output of 422 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The Cross Country is expected to utilize the same 69-kWh battery pack as other U.S.-market EX30 models, with the ability to DC fast-charge from 10-80% in under 30 minutes. EPA range ratings for the Cross Country model will be announced closer to its on-sale date later this year.
While pricing for the EX30 Cross Country has yet to be revealed, the current 2025 Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance starts at $46,195 in base Plus trim and $47,895 in higher-level Ultra trim, including a $1,295 destination fee. The EX30 lineup is also set to expand with the introduction of a single-motor powertrain option that will lower the base price to $36,245 with destination. This rollout follows a delay for the initial Twin Motor Performance models, which were originally slated to debut last summer but were postponed due to new tariffs.
Overall, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country represents an exciting addition to the Volvo lineup, offering a more rugged and adventurous take on the all-electric crossover SUV. With its unique styling elements, capable powertrain options, and advanced technology features, the EX30 Cross Country is sure to appeal to eco-conscious drivers looking for a blend of luxury and off-road capability in their next vehicle.
