BYD Launches Tang DM-i Smart Driving Edition with Upgraded Intelligent Driving System

BYD recently announced the market launch of the Tang DM-i Smart Driving edition at its intelligence strategy launch event. The new Tang DM-i Smart Driving edition is available in four trim levels, with prices ranging from 179,800 yuan to 219,800 yuan. This facelift model comes with upgraded features in the intelligent driving system, catering to different customer preferences.

The entry-level and mid-spec versions of the Tang DM-i Smart Driving edition are equipped with the God’s Eye C smart driving system, while the top-spec variant boasts the God’s Eye B system. These intelligent driving systems offer advanced functionalities to enhance the overall driving experience.

Exterior Design and Features

The Tang DM-i Smart Driving edition maintains the signature large-mouth grille design with a grid pattern for a visually striking effect. The headlights are smoked and flat-shaped, featuring matrix-style LED lights. A continuous chrome strip connects the headlights, enhancing the visual width of the front fascia. The lower bumper has a three-stage design with vertically-placed air vents on the fender and a trapezoidal air intake at the bottom.

The side profile of the vehicle showcases a smooth-curve roof with a shark fin and roof rack. The segmented waistline design, along with raised black trim on the wheel arches and side skirts, adds to the model’s sporty appeal. At the rear, a large spoiler and high-mounted brake light contribute to the overall dynamic look.

Dimensions and Interior Features

With a length of 4,870 mm, width of 1,950 mm, height of 1,725 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, the Tang DM-i Smart Driving edition is positioned as a mid-size SUV. Inside, the vehicle follows the Dynasty series’ design style, featuring a dual-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a fully liquid crystal display, a floating central control screen, and an electronic gear shifter. A spacious storage compartment is conveniently located in front of the gear lever.

This system supports HD map-free navigate on autopilot and automated valet parking functions. The top-spec variant is equipped with the God’s Eye B smart driving system.

Power-wise, the model features BYD’s fifth-generation DM (Dual Mode) system, combining a 1.5T engine and an electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum power of 115 kW, while the electric motor produces a peak output of 200 kW. With a 21.504 kWh battery pack, the Tang DM-i Smart Driving edition offers a CLTC-rated battery-powered range of 115 km.
