In recent news, Mitsubishi, along with Nissan and Honda, terminated their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed in December 2024. Despite this, the companies agreed to continue collaborating on technology and software development. Earlier plans for Nissan and Honda to integrate their automotive businesses under a new joint holding company were delayed, indicating potential challenges in the merger discussions.
The breakdown in merger talks also paved the way for Foxconn to potentially expand its automotive ambitions through a stake in Nissan. The future of collaboration and partnerships in the automotive industry remains uncertain, but Mitsubishi Motors continues to show strong growth and production numbers in the global market.
