The highly anticipated Abarth 600e is set to make waves in the electric performance car market, with the full-fat 278bhp version priced at £41,975 in the UK. This Ford Puma ST rival boasts a single-motor electric powertrain borrowed from the Alfa Romeo Junior, delivering a thrilling driving experience.
The range-topping Scorpionissima model pushes out 278bhp and 254lb ft of torque through its front wheels, thanks to a Torsen limited-slip differential. This allows it to sprint from 0-62mph in just 5.9 seconds, while the entry-level version with 237bhp takes 6.2 seconds to reach the same speed. Both versions have a top speed of 124mph, but this is electronically limited to 93mph in the road-focused Turismo driving mode.
Equipped with a 54kWh battery pack, the Abarth 600e has upgraded cooling to prevent derating on the track. However, the extra power and wider Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires result in a reduced range of 207 miles per charge, 45 miles less than the Fiat 600e. The Abarth also features larger 380mm brake discs from Alcon and a stiffer suspension setup developed by Stellantis Motorsport.
Visually, the Abarth stands out with its aggressive body kit, enlarged front grille, prominent rear spoiler, and striking 20-inch wheels. Inside, the cabin is sporty and stylish, with Sabelt bucket seats, Abarth-specific graphics on the dashboard, and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 7.0-inch digital instrument panel.
One unique feature of the Abarth 600e is an external speaker that replicates the sound of a traditional petrol engine, adding to the driving experience. With its blend of performance, style, and technology, the Abarth 600e is sure to appeal to electric car enthusiasts looking for a thrilling ride.
