Aston Martin Reveals Vanquish Volante: A 824bhp V12 Drop-Top
Aston Martin has unveiled the drop-top version of its powerful 824bhp V12-powered flagship, the Vanquish. Known as the Vanquish Volante, this convertible model is identical to its coupé counterpart, which made its debut in September 2024, marking the revival of the iconic Vanquish nameplate in the market.
Being one of the few V12 cars available, the Vanquish Volante joins the exclusive club of GTs that offer open-top driving with the thrilling soundtrack of a 12-cylinder engine. The fabric roof of the Volante is operated by a K-fold mechanism, similar to the setup in the new Vantage Roadster, allowing for seamless opening in just 14 seconds and closing in 16 seconds.
To maintain rigidity lost during the transition from coupé to roadster, underbody bracing has been added to the Vanquish Volante. As a result, the Volante boasts 75% more lateral stiffness compared to its predecessor, the DBS Volante. However, this additional bracing and roof mechanism have added weight, making the Volante 95kg heavier than the coupé, weighing in at 1930kg.
Despite the weight increase, the Vanquish Volante retains the same impressive power outputs of 824bhp and 738lb ft from its twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 engine. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds, just 0.1 seconds slower than the coupé, and achieves a top speed of 214mph.
Equipped with Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, and an electronic limited-slip differential, the Volante shares the same hardware as its coupĂ© sibling. Inside, the Volante features a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a matching infotainment screen running Aston Martin’s operating software, and a standard 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system. Customers can also opt for extensive interior customization through Aston Martin’s Q division.
