Audi RS3 Track-Focused Special Edition in the Works
Audi is gearing up to launch a track-focused special edition of the RS3, celebrating the iconic five-cylinder engine before it bids farewell due to upcoming EU emissions regulations.
The upcoming variant has been spotted undergoing testing at the NĂĽrburgring Nordschleife, with a launch anticipated for early next year.
This special edition boasts a host of racing-inspired enhancements, including a more aggressive front splitter, new canards, and a prominent rear spoiler designed to enhance its performance on the track.
Additionally, the RS3 prototype showcases new blue brake calipers, suggesting improved stopping power and the possibility of a unique color scheme or livery.
Expect a substantial increase in power and torque compared to the previous RS3 Performance Edition, which offered 401bhp and 369lb ft – the most potent version of the hot hatch yet.
Sebastian Grams, former managing director of Audi Sport, hinted at further enhancements to the five-cylinder engine, indicating that there is still untapped potential compared to the RS3 Performance Edition.
While Dutch manufacturer Donkervoort managed to extract 493bhp from the 2.5-litre turbocharged unit for its F22 open-wheeler, it remains to be seen if Audi will push the engine to similar limits.
If Audi does increase the output significantly, the RS3 could potentially surpass the 416bhp Mercedes-AMG A45 S, becoming the most powerful petrol hot hatch on the market.

This upcoming RS3 variant is expected to serve as a grand finale for the car and its beloved engine, similar to the Audi TT RS Iconic Edition released in 2022.
