New Audi Q5: A Closer Look at the Interior
When stepping inside the new Audi Q5, one can’t help but notice the familiar interior design that is shared with other Audi models on the new PPC platform. The luxurious cabin is equipped with modern technology and high-quality materials, making it a comfortable and stylish space to be in.
One of the standout features of the interior is the 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit display behind the steering wheel, providing the driver with important information at a glance. In the center of the dashboard, there is a large 14.5-inch touchscreen that controls various functions of the car.
For those who opt for the Edition 1 model, there is an additional Passenger Display, a 10.9-inch touchscreen that allows the front passenger to interact with the infotainment system. This secondary display can be used to adjust the navigation system, connect with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and even watch videos discreetly.
The climate controls are integrated into the central touchscreen, with a permanent bar at the bottom for easy access. While the system is responsive, some users may find it a bit challenging to navigate and operate without looking away from the road.
There are some unique design elements in the interior, such as a control panel where the window switches are typically located. This setup may lead to some confusion, as certain controls like the fog lights are located in unconventional places.
In terms of material quality, the Audi Q5 impresses with its premium finishes and minimal scratchy surfaces. However, some details like the gearbox selector and gearshift paddles could use improvement in terms of design and materials.
Practicality has been enhanced in the new Q5, with a slightly longer wheelbase that provides more legroom for rear passengers. The rear seats are adjustable in both length and tilt, offering flexibility for different seating preferences. The boot space remains generous, with 520 liters in the standard model and 515 liters in the Sportback variant.
