Changan Automobile’s electric vehicle (EV) unit, Avatr Technology, has made its way into the Hong Kong market, expanding its international presence. The brand officially introduced the Avatr 11 SUV to Hong Kong consumers on May 29, with a starting price of HKD 513,800 ($65,540).
The Avatr 11 is offered in two trims in Hong Kong – Premium and Max – with prices starting at HKD 513,800 and HKD 608,800, respectively. Both variants are battery electric vehicles (BEVs) powered by ternary lithium batteries supplied by CATL.
The Premium version comes with a 90-kWh battery pack, while the Max version is equipped with a 116-kWh battery pack. During the launch event, Avatr also unveiled the Avatr 012, a limited-edition sedan designed for a high-end audience with a focus on fashion. Only 700 units of the Avatr 012 will be available in Hong Kong.
Avatr has been expanding its reach in overseas markets, with a presence in countries like Thailand and Qatar. The Avatr 11, the brand’s first model, was initially launched in the Chinese mainland in August 2022. Recently, the updated 2025 Avatr 11 was introduced in China, offering both BEV and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.
Avatr, formerly known as Changan Nio, was established in 2018 by Changan and Nio, with each holding a 50 percent stake. In collaboration with CATL and Huawei, the brand announced the updated Avatr line in 2021, focusing on developing EVs based on the CHN architecture.
In April, Avatr sold 11,681 vehicles, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 122.62 percent. From January to April, the brand sold a total of 36,164 vehicles, reflecting a strong year-on-year growth of 82.84 percent.
The introduction of the Avatr 11 in Hong Kong signifies Avatr’s commitment to expanding its global presence and offering innovative electric vehicles to consumers worldwide. The brand’s focus on design, technology, and sustainability continues to drive its success in the competitive EV market.
