Bentley priming new 641bhp Continental GT Supersports

Bentley is gearing up to launch a new flagship model in its Continental GT lineup, potentially resurrecting the Supersports nameplate from 2013. Matthias Rabe, Bentley’s R&D chief, hinted at the possibility of equipping the new Continental GT with the powerful 641bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine found in the Bentayga Speed.

Recent spy shots of test mules suggest that the new Continental GT will be positioned as a more extreme model compared to its predecessor. Instead of solely focusing on being the most powerful variant in the range, the upcoming ‘Supersports’ model seems to prioritize lightweight construction and a pure-combustion engine. The car appears to have a track-focused design, with features like a fixed rear spoiler, additional front aerodynamics, and new twin exhaust pipes.

While specific details about the new model are still scarce, it is expected to be produced in limited numbers and come with a hefty price tag well above the current GT’s starting price of £202,400. The previous Supersports variant was known for its distinctive design elements, such as chunky air intakes in the front bumper. Although the latest test mules showcase new alloy wheel designs, no other significant visual changes are apparent.

Overall, Bentley seems to be aiming for a more performance-oriented and exclusive offering with the upcoming Continental GT ‘Supersports’. Fans of the brand can expect a blend of power, luxury, and track-focused enhancements when the new model officially debuts. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting addition to Bentley’s prestigious lineup.
