Bugatti Used Swiss Watchmakers for the Tourbillon’s Instrument Cluster

Bugatti has unveiled the Tourbillon, a masterpiece of design that exudes a “sense of mechanical timelessness.” The cabin of the Tourbillon bears a striking resemblance to the Chiron, featuring a central spire housing various controls and a robust steering wheel. However, the standout feature of the interior is the intricate instrument cluster, meticulously crafted with the expertise of Swiss watchmakers.

Crafted from titanium, the instrument cluster weighs a mere 1.5 pounds and comprises over 600 parts, including exquisite gems like rubies and sapphires. The precision in construction is evident, with tolerances as small as 5 to 50 microns. The back of the cluster is equally delicate, with a brace supporting the central screen.

The central dial of the cluster showcases the speedometer and rpm indicator, with a digital display at the bottom for speed and gear selection. The dials move fluidly, reminiscent of the hands of a clock. On the left side, you’ll find gauges for temperature, fuel, and battery levels, while the right dial displays the power output of the car’s monstrous 1,800-horsepower, 8.3-liter hybrid V-16 engine.

Bugatti has ensured that the driver always has a clear view of the gauges by designing the steering wheel with a fixed hub. The spokes at the top and bottom of the wheel extend behind the instrument cluster, providing an unobstructed view of the stunning piece.

The automaker aimed to create a cabin that would remain timeless even a century from now. The instrument cluster is undoubtedly a work of art, complemented by the hide-away central screen that elegantly pops out of the dash. This design choice not only ensures the interior remains relevant but also embraces the analog aesthetic that discerning supercar buyers are increasingly drawn to, as noted by Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac.

Deliveries of the Bugatti Tourbillon are set to commence in 2026, with only 250 units slated for production. This exclusive offering is sure to captivate enthusiasts with its blend of innovative design and timeless elegance.
