Denza, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand from BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has officially started mass production of its highly anticipated model, the Denza N9. This new six-seat large hybrid SUV is set to redefine the standard of mobility for flagship SUVs, measuring 5,258 mm in length.
The first production cars of the Denza N9 have recently rolled off the production line, boasting cutting-edge technologies for intelligence and safety. The model is now being dispatched to Denza showrooms across China, according to Zhao Changjiang, the brand’s head of sales.
Denza’s existing lineup includes popular models such as the N7 SUV, Z9 sedan, Z9GT hatchback, and D9 MPV. The brand first teased the N9 back in October 2024, revealing that it would be powered by BYD’s advanced e3 technology.
The e3 technology, a scaled-down version of BYD’s e4 technology, features tri-motor independent drive with dual-motor independent steering at the rear wheels. This innovative technology was first introduced in the Z9GT, which launched in September 2024.
In a recent announcement, Zhao confirmed that the Denza N9 would be launched in the first quarter of this year. Additionally, the brand is planning to introduce a new, larger, and more powerful MPV in 2025, building on the success of the D9 MPV.
The Denza N9 is equipped with three electric motors, with a front motor delivering 200 kW of peak power and two rear motors offering 240 kW each. The model also features an engine with a displacement of 1,995 ml and 152 kW.
Despite challenges in the market, Denza delivered 11,720 vehicles in January, marking a 29.25% increase compared to the same period last year. In 2024, the brand delivered a total of 126,035 vehicles, slightly down from the previous year.
Looking ahead, Denza aims to achieve sales of over 300,000 units in 2025, as reported by local media outlet AutoPix. With the launch of the Denza N9 and other upcoming models, the brand is poised for continued growth and success in the competitive NEV market.
