BYD’s Thailand factory has achieved a significant milestone by shipping over 900 BYD Dolphin EVs to Europe for the first time. The destinations for these electric vehicles include the UK, Germany, and Belgium. This marks a new chapter in BYD’s globalization efforts, as the Thailand-made BYD Dolphins were transported via the BYD Zhengzhou car carrier.

The announcement was made by BYD’s Thai subsidiary on August 25, stating that the local factory had successfully produced and shipped its first batch of BYD Dolphin EVs to Europe. This shipment of over 900 vehicles signifies a major achievement for BYD Thailand, following its first anniversary and the delivery of 90,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) to date.

The Thailand-made BYD Dolphins were loaded onto the BYD Zhengzhou, the company’s seventh car carrier vessel, for their journey to Europe. This voyage represents the vessel’s inaugural trip from Thailand to Europe, highlighting BYD’s commitment to enhancing its global supply chain and maritime logistics system.

The BYD Thailand plant, which commenced operations on July 4, 2024, is situated within the WHA Rayong 36 Industrial Estate and spans nearly 960,000 square meters. With an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles, this facility is BYD’s first wholly-owned overseas passenger vehicle manufacturing plant.

In July, BYD reported sales of 344,296 NEVs, marking a 0.56 percent year-on-year increase but a 10.01 percent decrease from June. Overseas sales reached 80,737 units in July, reflecting a remarkable 169.00 percent year-on-year surge despite a 10.34 percent decline from the previous month.

The Seal 5 DM-i, BYD’s fourth model produced at the Thai factory, was recently launched as the first right-hand drive model manufactured at the facility. This hybrid sedan further solidifies BYD’s presence in the Thai market and underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

Overall, BYD’s successful export of vehicles from its Thailand factory to Europe marks a significant achievement and underscores the company’s continued efforts towards global expansion and sustainability.
