BYD Introduces BYD SHARK Plug-in Hybrid Electric Pickup Truck to Ecuadorian Market

BYD has officially launched its latest offering, the BYD SHARK, a plug-in hybrid electric pickup truck, in the Ecuadorian market. This announcement was made through a post on January 23 on the company’s Weibo account.

Crafted under the direction of BYD Design Director Wolfgang Egger, the BYD SHARK takes inspiration from the agility and power of sharks. The design of the vehicle seamlessly blends futuristic technology with raw strength, creating a visually captivating and innovative vehicle.

At the heart of the BYD SHARK is the DMO (Dual-Mode Off-road) platform, which combines off-road capabilities and safety with SUV-like comfort and exceptional energy efficiency. This platform features a hybrid-optimized body-on-frame structure, a longitudinal EHS drive assembly, double-wishbone independent suspension both at the front and rear, and a dedicated rear-drive assembly specifically designed for pickups. This combination ensures a perfect balance of performance and comfort for the driver.

Under the hood, the BYD SHARK is powered by a plug-in hybrid system that includes a 1.5T engine and two electric motors. The front electric motor delivers a maximum power of 170 kW and a peak torque of 310 N·m, while the rear electric motor provides a maximum power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 340 N·m. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds and offers a combined range of 840 km with its 29.58 kWh battery capacity.

Inside the cabin, the BYD SHARK features an intelligent cockpit that seamlessly integrates with various ecosystems. With voice control features, drivers can easily adjust driving modes, control air conditioning, manage music playback, and perform other tasks with simple voice commands, enhancing comfort and convenience.

BYD has expressed its plans to collaborate with local dealers in Ecuador to establish a localized sales and service network, ensuring an enriched car-purchasing experience for customers in the region.

With its innovative design, advanced technology, and commitment to customer satisfaction, the BYD SHARK is set to make a splash in the Ecuadorian market, offering drivers a unique and efficient driving experience.
