BYD, a prominent Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, has recently introduced the Sealion 07 in Hungary, marking the electric SUV as one of its key offerings in international markets. Renamed as the Sealion 7 in Hungary, this high-performance SUV aims to cater to the diverse needs of local customers.
Offering three variants – Comfort, Design ADW, and Excellence AWD – with a starting price of 2004,000 Hungarian forints ($51,260), BYD aims to capture the attention of Hungarian consumers with the Sealion 7. This move follows the successful launch of the Sealion 07 in China, where it garnered significant interest as a competitor to Tesla’s Model Y.
Since its debut in China, the Sealion 07 has made its way to various international markets, including Norway, Thailand, and India. In India, the SUV is available in Premium and Performance variants, catering to different driving preferences. BYD’s expansion into Hungary is part of its broader strategy to establish a strong presence in the European market.
BYD’s commitment to the Hungarian market is further underscored by its plans to build a passenger car plant in the country. The company signed a land pre-purchase agreement with the government of Szeged to establish its first passenger car plant in Europe. This facility is expected to be operational within three years and will focus on producing passenger car models for the European market.
With the Sealion 7 leading the charge in Hungary, BYD is poised to strengthen its position as a leading player in the global electric vehicle market. The company’s innovative e-Platform 3.0 Evo technology, which underpins the Sealion 07, demonstrates its commitment to pushing the boundaries of EV technology and delivering cutting-edge solutions to consumers worldwide. As BYD continues to expand its presence in international markets, the Sealion 7 stands out as a testament to the company’s dedication to sustainable mobility and driving the future of electric vehicles.
