BYD, a leading Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, has recently introduced the Sealion 07 EV in Thailand, where it has been rebranded as the Sealion 7. This move marks the company’s expansion into the Southeast Asian market following its successful launch in Europe.

The Sealion 07 EV made its debut at the 41st Thailand International Motor Expo 2024 in Bangkok, which kicked off on November 28. This electric SUV is available in two variants in Thailand, with the Premium rear-wheel drive version starting at 1,149,900 baht ($33,380) and the Performance all-wheel drive version starting at 1,249,900 baht.

This model is part of BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo, an upgraded version of the e-Platform 3.0, and was first introduced in China on May 10. In China, the Sealion 07 EV comes in four variants with varying price points. BYD also showcased other models at the auto show, including the BYD Yuan Plus, Dolphin, Seal, BYD M6, BYD Sharak 6 pickup truck, as well as the Denza N7, Denza Z9GT, and Denza D9.

BYD aims to leverage both the BYD and Denza brands to cater to the preferences of Thai consumers and strengthen its position in the Southeast Asian market. The company recently launched the Sealion 07 EV in European markets, such as Norway, where it is also known as the Sealion 7.

In November, BYD reported a total of 506,804 NEVs sold, representing a 67.87 percent year-on-year increase and a 0.83 percent month-on-month growth. The BYD Sealion series, which includes the Sealion 07 and Sealion 05 DM-i, sold 14,608 units in November.

Furthermore, BYD sold 30,977 NEVs in overseas markets in November, reflecting a 1.14 percent year-on-year increase. The company continues to expand its presence in international markets while maintaining a strong foothold in China.

With its commitment to innovation and sustainability, BYD is poised to make a significant impact in the global electric vehicle market. The introduction of the Sealion 07 EV in Thailand is a testament to the company’s dedication to providing high-quality, eco-friendly transportation solutions to consumers worldwide.
