BYD offers 11.5% limited-time discount on Sealion 05 DM-i in China

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has recently announced a limited-time discount on its Sealion 05 DM-i hybrid SUV in China, with a starting price of RMB 99,800 ($13,670). This move comes as the company aims to take advantage of the peak sales season leading up to the Chinese New Year holiday.

The discounted price is available to customers who purchase the Sealion 05 DM-i between December 26, 2024, and January 26, 2025. This special offer represents a reduction of RMB 13,000, or 11.52 percent, from the vehicle’s official guide price of RMB 112,800.

The Sealion 05 DM-i was introduced on September 23 and is equipped with BYD’s latest DM 5.0 hybrid technology, which ensures lower fuel consumption. This compact five-seat SUV boasts dimensions of 4,710 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,712 mm.

Compared to the Tesla Model Y, the Sealion 05 DM-i is slightly smaller in size but offers similar features and technology. It is the second model in BYD’s Sealion lineup, following the Sealion 07 EV, and is the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in the series.

During November, BYD sold a total of 506,804 new energy vehicles (NEVs), including 504,003 passenger cars and 2,801 commercial vehicles. The Sealion lineup contributed 14,608 units to this figure, accounting for 2.88 percent of BYD’s NEV sales for the month.

As the Chinese New Year holiday approaches (from January 28 to February 4, 2025), many consumers are expected to make car purchases for travel and family visits. This discount offer on the Sealion 05 DM-i presents an attractive opportunity for customers to own a high-quality hybrid SUV at a reduced price.
