BYD reports growth in NEV production for February 2025

BYD, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has reported a significant increase in new energy vehicle (NEV) production and sales for February 2025 compared to the same period last year. The company produced a total of 334,124 NEVs in February 2025, a substantial rise from 110,474 units in February 2024. Year-to-date production reached 661,988 units, reflecting a 109.45% year-on-year increase.

Sales of NEVs in February 2025 stood at 322,846 units, a significant increase from 122,311 units in the same period last year. Passenger vehicle production accounted for 329,211 units in February 2025, up from 109,911 units in February 2024. Sales for passenger vehicles reached 318,233 units, compared to 121,748 in February 2024.

The production of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) saw a notable increase to 126,419 units from 43,013 units in the previous year. BEV sales in February 2025 stood at 124,902 units, up from 54,908 in February 2024. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) production also experienced strong growth, reaching 202,792 units in February 2025 compared to 66,898 units in February 2024. Sales of PHEVs stood at 193,331 units in February 2025, compared to 66,840 units in February 2024.

The commercial vehicle segment of BYD also witnessed a significant rise in production and sales. The company produced 4,913 commercial vehicles in February 2025, compared to 563 units in February 2024. Sales in this segment stood at 4,613 units, a substantial increase from 563 units in February 2024. Bus production reached 453 units, compared to 201 units in February 2024, with sales figures remaining consistent with production.

In other commercial vehicles, production increased to 4,460 units in February 2025, compared to 362 units in February 2024. Last month, it was reported that BYD was set to engage with Italian auto parts makers to discuss potential supplies for its new plants in Hungary and Turkey.

Overall, BYD’s performance in the NEV market for February 2025 showcases a strong growth trajectory, reflecting the company’s commitment to advancing electric mobility. With the increasing demand for electric vehicles globally, BYD’s continued innovation and expansion into new markets position it as a key player in the sustainable transportation industry.
