The BYD Sealion 05 EV, a compact crossover designed for global markets, has unveiled its interior for the first time during road tests. With a peak power of 160 kW (214 hp), this electric SUV features a fresh design language that sets it apart from its predecessors in the Sealion series.

The Sealion lineup, under the BYD brand, has been expanding rapidly. Starting with the Sealion 07 EV, followed by the Sealion 05 DM-i and the Sealion 06 DM-i, BYD has now applied for sales licenses for two more models: the Sealion 07 DM and the Sealion 05 EV. The interior of the Sealion 05 EV was recently exposed in China, showcasing a new and modern design language.

The interior of the BYD Sealion 05 EV features a 12.8-inch suspended touchscreen on the center console, similar to the Sealion 05 DM-i. The LCD instrument panel sits behind a three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel, with the gear shifter conveniently located behind the wheel. The center console, although camouflaged, reveals vertically aligned air vents, giving it a sleek and futuristic look.

Sporty seats with integrated headrests and prominent side support add to the comfort and style of the Sealion 05 EV’s interior. The car also features shell-shaped door handles on its door cards, suggesting attention to detail in its design. Additionally, there are speculations that the Sealion 05 EV may come equipped with a head-up display for added convenience.

Measuring at 4520/1860/1630 mm, the Sealion 05 EV is slightly smaller than its PHEV counterpart, making it a compact and agile crossover option. With its unique design elements and compact size, the Sealion 05 EV is positioned as a potential replacement for the BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) in international markets. The electric crossover is set to enter the Chinese market in 2025, with plans for global sales as part of BYD’s expansion strategy.

Featuring elongated headlights, a trapeze-shaped air intake, and a sporty roof spoiler, the BYD Sealion 05 EV boasts a striking exterior design. The front bumper showcases an X-shaped pattern, while plastic trim accents add a modern touch to the overall look of the vehicle. With two e-motor options available, generating either 140 kW (188 hp) or 160 kW (214 hp), the Sealion 05 EV promises a powerful and efficient driving experience.

Overall, the BYD Sealion 05 EV combines cutting-edge design elements with advanced electric technology to offer a compelling option in the global crossover market. With its unique interior features, sleek exterior design, and powerful performance capabilities, the Sealion 05 EV is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle segment.
