BYD, a leading Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, has unveiled official images of two flagship models from its Dynasty lineup, the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV. The company shared two images of each model on Weibo, giving a sneak peek at their exteriors ahead of a design introduction event scheduled for tomorrow.
These images mark the first time that BYD has revealed the design of the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV, generating excitement among car enthusiasts. The upcoming design introduction event on January 17 at 2:00 pm Beijing time promises to delve deeper into the features and capabilities of these highly anticipated models.
The Han L and Tang L were initially teased on January 3, with obscured images that left much to the imagination. However, on January 10, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released a catalog listing both models for public comment, shedding light on their core specifications.
One of the most intriguing features of these models is the inclusion of dual electric motors, with one boasting a peak power of up to 580 kW. This level of power is rarely seen in the industry, making the Han L and Tang L stand out among their competitors. Additionally, the Han L can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.7 seconds, while the Tang L achieves this in 3.9 seconds, comparable to many supercar models.
The Han L sedan made its debut in July 2020 as BYD’s first foray into the mid to high-end sedan market. On the other hand, the Tang L SUV was first showcased at the 2014 Beijing auto show and entered production in 2015. Both models have undergone several updates and now serve as the flagship models of BYD’s Dynasty lineup, complementing the Ocean lineup named after marine life and ships.
In 2024, the Han family of models sold 258,452 units, marking a 13.17 percent increase year-on-year and contributing 6.05 percent to BYD’s annual sales. The Tang family also saw growth, with 153,365 units sold in 2024, reflecting an 11.80 percent increase year-on-year and contributing 3.59 percent to the company’s overall sales.
The official images and specifications of the Han L and Tang L have sparked anticipation among consumers and industry experts alike. With their impressive performance capabilities and sleek designs, these models are poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates on BYD’s latest offerings and innovations.
