BYD’s new car carrier, the BYD Shenzhen, has set sail and is the latest addition to the company’s fleet. With a capacity of 9,200 parking spaces, it is currently the world’s largest car carrier with the highest loading capacity in operation. The vessel was officially delivered to BYD in Yizheng, Jiangsu province, marking a significant development in the company’s global sales and supply chain for its new energy vehicles (NEVs).

Built by a shipyard owned by China Merchants Group, the BYD Shenzhen measures 219.9 meters in length, with a beam of 37.7 meters, a service speed of 19 knots, and a total of 16 decks. It boasts 9,200 standard loading spaces, making it the largest car carrier in terms of loading capacity currently in operation.

The ship is equipped with the latest LNG dual-fuel clean power technology and features energy-saving devices, drag-reducing anti-fouling paints, and other technical solutions to make it a green, intelligent, environmentally friendly, and efficient car carrier. In the first quarter of this year, BYD’s car carriers have already shipped over 25,000 NEVs to various overseas markets, demonstrating the company’s commitment to expanding its global footprint.

BYD’s NEVs are now present in more than 100 countries and regions, spanning 400 cities worldwide. The commissioning of the BYD Shenzhen will enhance the company’s delivery capacity to key global markets, shorten transportation cycles, and reduce logistics costs. This will ultimately help BYD’s NEVs reach global customers faster and safer.

Looking ahead, BYD plans to continue investing in new energy logistics to contribute Chinese solutions to the global goal of achieving “carbon neutrality.” The company’s fleet also includes other vessels such as the BYD Changsha, BYD Xi’an, BYD Explorer No. 1, BYD Hefei, and BYD Changzhou, each playing a crucial role in expanding BYD’s global reach and delivery capabilities.
