BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has announced the launch of its latest electric compact SUV, the Atto 2, in France. Known as the Yuan Up in China, the compact SUV was unveiled on Tuesday at the La Défense Arena in Paris. Priced at 28,990 euros ($30,440) in France, the Atto 2 aims to compete in the B-segment SUV market in Europe.
The pricing of the Atto 2 positions it as a competitive option in the European market. At 28,990 euros, it is 5,000 euros cheaper than the Kia Niro, 6,000 euros cheaper than the Opel Mokka-e, and 7,000 euros cheaper than the Peugeot e-2008. It is important to note that the Opel Mokka-e and Peugeot e-2008 are eligible for a French subsidy of up to 4,000 euros, making them more affordable options for consumers.
The Atto 2 is a continuation of the success of the Yuan Up, which was launched in China on March 26, 2024. The compact SUV boasts a length of 4,310 mm, a width of 1,830 mm, and a height of 1,675 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. This compact size makes it a versatile option for urban environments while still providing ample interior space for passengers.
BYD showcased the Yuan Up, rebranded as the Atto 2 for the European market, at the Brussels auto show on January 15. The European debut of the compact SUV was well-received, paving the way for its official launch in Europe on February 6. The Atto 2 brings BYD’s innovative electric vehicle technology to the European market, offering consumers a stylish and efficient option in the growing electric SUV segment.
With Chinese NEVs leading the way in innovation, BYD’s launch of the Atto 2 in France signals the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the global electric vehicle market. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, BYD’s Atto 2 presents a compelling option for European consumers looking for a high-quality, affordable electric SUV.
