Dongfeng Motor’s premium electric vehicle (EV) unit, Voyah, is making strides in solid-state battery technology with the development of its third-generation battery system. According to a report by local media Cailian, Voyah’s upcoming solid-state battery will maintain an impressive energy density of 300 Wh/kg. However, the standout feature of this new battery is its increased charging multiplier of 3 to 5 C.

The charging multiplier, represented by the letter C, indicates how quickly a battery can be recharged. In the case of Voyah’s latest solid-state battery, a 5 C rating means that the battery could potentially be fully charged in just 12 minutes. This significant improvement in charging speed is sure to enhance the user experience and convenience for EV owners.

One of the key advantages of Voyah’s solid-state battery is its zero electrolyte content, making it a safer and more stable option for powering electric vehicles. Additionally, this advanced battery technology is designed to operate over an extremely wide temperature range, ensuring optimal performance in various environmental conditions.

Voyah, a brand launched by Dongfeng in 2020, has been steadily expanding its lineup of electric vehicles. The company introduced its first model, the Voyah Free, in June 2021, followed by the Dream MPV in May 2022 and the Zhuiguang sedan in April 2023. The adoption of Voyah’s first-generation semisolid batteries in these models has laid the foundation for the development of more advanced battery technologies.

In addition to its solid-state battery research, Voyah has also introduced the Amber Battery, featuring an energy density of 212 Wh/kg and a claimed range of over 900 km. This innovative battery is based on an 800 V platform and boasts a 5 C ultra-fast charging capability, allowing for a quick recharge of 450 km of range in just 10 minutes.

With its commitment to pushing the boundaries of battery technology, Voyah is poised to make a significant impact in the EV market. By continuously improving the performance, reliability, and convenience of its battery systems, Voyah is setting the stage for a new era of sustainable and efficient electric transportation.
