BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang has reached a significant milestone with the delivery of the first batch of U7 sedans to customers. The U7 model was officially launched on March 27 with an enticing starting price of RMB 628,000 ($87,240), marking a new chapter for the brand in the luxury car market.

The Yangwang U7 is available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) options, offering customers the choice between four-seat and five-seat configurations. With dimensions of 5,265 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,517 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,160 mm, the U7 promises a spacious and comfortable ride for its occupants.

Powered by Yangwang’s cutting-edge e4 technology, the U7 is equipped with four electric motors, each delivering a peak power of 240 kW. This configuration results in a total power output of 960 kW and a peak torque of 1,584 Nm, translating to an impressive 1,300 horsepower. The U7 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, showcasing its exceptional performance capabilities.

One standout feature of the U7 is the DiSus-Z advanced body control system, the highest-tier variant of BYD’s DiSus system. This system is designed to enhance ride comfort, surpassing even maglev technology, and enabling the vehicle to navigate rough terrain with ease.

In addition to the U7 sedan, Yangwang’s lineup includes the U8 off-road SUV, starting at RMB 1.098 million, and the U9 electric supercar, starting at RMB 1.68 million. Despite a slight decrease in year-on-year sales, with 135 vehicles sold in April, Yangwang remains committed to offering luxury vehicles that combine performance, comfort, and cutting-edge technology to discerning customers.

With the launch of the U7 and the expansion of its product portfolio, Yangwang is poised to make a mark in the ultra-luxury segment of the automotive market. As deliveries of the U7 begin and test drives of the second batch commence in various cities, the brand’s commitment to innovation and excellence is evident in every aspect of its offerings.

Overall, Yangwang’s U7 represents a significant step forward for BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand, solidifying its position as a key player in the competitive luxury car market. With a focus on performance, comfort, and advanced technology, the U7 is set to redefine the standards of luxury driving for discerning customers.
