Yangwang, the premium brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has recently kicked off pre-sales of its highly anticipated U7 sedan at the 2024 Guangzhou auto show. The brand, which had previously unveiled the U7 at the 2024 Beijing auto show, is now offering customers the option to reserve the BEV and PHEV variants of the U7 by paying a reservation fee of 20,000 yuan ($2,770).
Despite the buzz surrounding the U7, pricing information has not been disclosed by Yangwang. However, the brand had initially hinted that the flagship sedan would be priced at the 1-million-yuan level, making it an attractive option for luxury car enthusiasts.
The U7 boasts impressive performance capabilities, with up to 1,300 horsepower allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour. In addition, the vehicle has a braking distance of 33 meters from 100 km/h and a minimum turning radius of 4.85 meters, showcasing its agility and handling prowess.
The BEV variant of the U7 is powered by a high-performance blade battery pack with a capacity of 135.5 kWh, providing a CLTC range of 720 kilometers. The model also supports rapid charging, with the ability to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes using two charging guns with a combined power of 500 kW.
On the other hand, the PHEV variant of the U7 features a battery pack with a capacity of 52.4 kWh and a maximum charging power of 210 kW. This variant offers a combined range of up to 1,000 kilometers on a full fuel and charge, making it a versatile option for drivers looking for both electric and traditional fuel options.
The U7 is equipped with four permanent magnet synchronous motors, each delivering a peak power of 240 kW. It also features BYD’s advanced DiSus-Z intelligent body control system, which enhances ride comfort and stability by providing ultra-fast regulation with a response time as fast as 10 ms.
