BYD’s Denza brand has officially made its debut in the Thai market, marking its fourth international market in the Asia-Pacific region after Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Singapore. The brand will introduce the Denza D9 Premium and Premium AWD versions in Thailand, priced at 1,999,900 baht (421,000 yuan or 58,900 USD) and 2,699,900 baht (568,000 yuan or 79,600 USD) respectively.
According to BYD, the total number of orders for Denza vehicles has already surpassed 250,000 units, showcasing strong demand for their products. The brand is planning to establish five showrooms and ten sales outlets in Thailand within the year to further expand its presence in the market.
Thailand has implemented the “3030” policy to boost electric vehicle production to 30% of total automobile production by 2030, with a goal for all new cars sold to be electric vehicles by 2035. BYD has already sold 56,000 new energy vehicles in Thailand, with over 40% of the electric vehicle market share in 2023.
In 2023, the total number of electric vehicle registrations in Thailand reached about 76,000 units, accounting for 12% of total vehicle registrations. Chinese brands dominated the market, with BYD Atto 3 and BYD Dolphin ranking first and third in sales respectively, as reported by the Thai Automobile Association.
The Denza D9 Premium will be available in four exterior paint options and two interior choices, catering to different preferences of customers. The vehicle boasts dimensions of 5250/1960/1920 mm with a 3110 mm wheelbase, offering a range of PHEV and EV variants powered by single or dual motors.
