​Changan Automobile boasts 65.5% YoY surge in YTD auto export by Sept. 2024

Changan Automobile Reports 9.98% Year-on-Year Dip in September Sales

Chinese automaker Changan Automobile announced a monthly sales volume of 213,180 vehicles in September 2024, marking a 9.98% year-on-year decrease. Despite this decline, the company’s cumulative sales volume for the first three quarters of the year reached 1,904,979 vehicles, reflecting a 1.89% increase compared to the same period last year.

Wholly-Owned Brands Performance

Of the vehicles sold by Changan Automobile in the Jan.-Sept. period, 1,584,526 units were under its wholly-owned brands, with 1,160,876 units being passenger cars. The company also reported a significant 65.5% year-on-year surge in the export of its wholly-owned brands, with 287,722 vehicles exported to overseas markets.

New Energy Vehicles (NEV) Sales

Changan Automobile sold 54,383 NEVs under its wholly-owned brands in September, bringing the year-to-date volume to 447,618 units, a 46% increase compared to the previous year. This highlights the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the NEV market.

Joint Ventures Performance

Changan Ford, one of Changan Automobile’s joint ventures, reported sales of 24,213 vehicles in August 2024, representing a 5.76% decrease year-on-year. On the other hand, Changan Mazda, another joint venture, saw a significant decline in monthly sales, with only 6,010 vehicles sold, a 41.9% decrease from the previous year.
