Changan Mazda, the collaboration between Changan Automobile and Mazda in China, is making waves with its latest offering, the EZ-60 SUV. The company recently announced that the EZ-60 has surpassed 20,000 pre-orders, setting a new record for being the fastest joint venture new energy SUV in China to reach this milestone.
The EZ-60 was unveiled at the Shanghai auto show on April 23 and quickly gained popularity, with over 10,000 pre-orders within the first 48 hours. This mid-size SUV is Changan Mazda’s first new energy SUV and its second strategic model for the global market, following the EZ-6 sedan.
Available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, the EZ-60 offers versatility and choice to consumers. The BEV version features a single electric motor with a maximum power of 190 kW, while the EREV variant includes an additional engine with a displacement of 1.5 L and maximum power of 70 kW.
The EZ-60 is powered by batteries supplied by CATL and CALB, with CATL recently announcing a partnership with Changan Mazda to develop NEVs based on its CIIC skateboard chassis. The official launch of the EZ-60 SUV is expected by the end of August, with Mazda already planning its third and fourth models in collaboration with Changan.
Overall, the EZ-60’s success highlights the growing demand for new energy vehicles in China and the strong partnership between Changan and Mazda. With its advanced technology, sleek design, and impressive performance, the EZ-60 is poised to make a significant impact in the EV market.
As global auto brands continue to innovate and compete in China’s smart NEV market, Changan Mazda’s EZ-60 stands out as a frontrunner, setting new standards for efficiency, performance, and sustainability in the SUV segment.
