Changan, a China-based automotive company, has recently inaugurated its first international new energy vehicle (NEV) production base in Rayong, Thailand. This marks a significant shift for the company, moving from exporting products to exporting entire industrial ecosystems. The Rayong facility is designed to incorporate manufacturing systems, R&D processes, and supply chain standards, setting a green, intelligent, and replicable model for sustainable global operations.

To coincide with the launch of the Rayong factory, Changan also celebrated the production of its 28.59 millionth vehicle, a right-hand drive DEEPAL S05 tailored for global markets. This achievement underscores Changan’s commitment to its ‘Vast Ocean Plan’, aiming to elevate major overseas markets to the same strategic level as its domestic market in China. By expanding globally with smart manufacturing and localized collaboration, Changan is on track to become a world-class automobile brand.

The Rayong factory features five workshops including welding, painting, general assembly, engine assembly, and battery assembly, along with auxiliary functions such as exterior inspection. This energy-efficient facility incorporates daylight optimization, photovoltaic systems, and greywater/rainwater recycling, resulting in a 20% reduction in per-vehicle energy consumption.

With automated processes, adaptive conveyance systems, and advanced assembly and testing capabilities, the Rayong factory ensures production efficiency and high-quality products to meet diverse market demands. The facility will produce CHANG-AN, DEEPAL, and AVATR brands, with annual capacity expected to double from 100,000 to 200,000 units by 2027.

Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile, expressed his excitement about the company’s transition from exporting cars to building a local ecosystem, emphasizing the significance of this milestone for Changan.
