This announcement comes on the heels of Chery Group’s robust export performance in May of this year, with 100,737 vehicles shipped abroad, representing a 7.7% year-on-year increase. From January to May, Chery Group’s total exports reached 443,940 units, solidifying its position as China’s leading automobile exporter. As of the end of May, Chery Group’s global user base exceeded 16.7 million, with over 4.94 million users located outside of China.
Chery Group has ramped up its global expansion efforts in 2025 through a multi-brand strategy. In April, its JETOUR brand introduced the heavyweight model DASHING in Malaysia, signaling a deeper foray into the Southeast Asian market. In May, JETOUR T1 made its debut in the Panamanian and Egyptian markets, showcasing its refined cockpit and rugged off-road capabilities, underscoring the technical prowess of Chinese automotive brands on the global stage.
Chery emphasized that the company is advancing its globalization strategy from phases 1.0 and 2.0, focused on overseas sales and local manufacturing, respectively, to the current phase 3.0 driven by intelligent manufacturing and technological innovation.
Building on this approach, Chery’s global innovation ecosystem platform, the Kaiyang Laboratory, achieved a significant milestone on May 12 through a strategic partnership with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (“NTU Singapore”). This collaboration marked the Kaiyang Laboratory’s first overseas collaborative innovation center. The partnership will focus on R&D in key technologies for new energy and intelligent connected vehicles, while promoting a global open-source initiative and sharing core equipment and technologies to foster a diverse innovation landscape for technological advancement.
