Chevy Equinox EV crushed it in July, best sales for a non-Tesla EV

The Chevy Equinox EV is making waves in the electric vehicle market, with record-breaking sales in the US last month. GM reported selling over 19,000 electric vehicles in July, a significant increase of more than 115% compared to the previous year. Leading the surge in sales was the Chevy Equinox EV, which has quickly become one of the top-selling non-Tesla EVs in the country.

The success of the Chevy Equinox EV can be attributed to its affordability and impressive range of over 315 miles. With the introduction of the lower-priced LT model priced under $35,000, sales of the electric SUV have skyrocketed. In fact, in the first quarter of the year, Chevy became the fastest-growing EV brand in the US, thanks to the popularity of the Equinox EV.

In July alone, GM sold over 8,500 Chevy Equinox EVs, marking the best sales month for any non-Tesla EV in the US. This feat is even more remarkable considering the competition from other automakers like Honda, Hyundai, and Ford. The Chevy Equinox EV’s combination of range, fast charging capabilities, and affordability has made it a popular choice among buyers, attracting a younger demographic and conquest buyers from other brands.

As of July, GM has sold approximately 36,000 Chevy Equinox EV models, outpacing competitors like Ford, Hyundai, and Honda in EV sales. The company acknowledges that the federal EV tax credit has played a significant role in boosting demand across the industry, but with the incentive set to expire at the end of September, GM is offering generous discounts to move inventory.

With leases starting as low as $289 per month, the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV remains a compelling option for eco-conscious consumers. Hyundai, Honda, and Ford are also offering competitive deals ahead of the incentive cutoff. If you’re considering making the switch to an electric vehicle, now is the time to take advantage of these savings before they expire.

Stay tuned for GM’s third-quarter US sales report on October 1 for a comprehensive breakdown of the latest sales figures.
