Chinese Car Brands See Surge in UK Sales
March proved to be a successful month for Chinese car brands in the UK, with sales soaring by 88%. Leading the charge were brands like BYD, MG, Omoda, and Jaecoo, as they expanded their presence in the UK market.
According to data released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Chinese brands collectively sold 28,883 cars in March, capturing a market share of 7.5%. This marked a significant increase from the 4.0% market share they held in March 2024.
For the first quarter of 2025, Chinese brands maintained a market share of 7.0%, showcasing sustained growth and popularity among UK consumers.
One of the standout performers was BYD, which experienced a staggering 754% increase in sales, selling a total of 6480 cars compared to the previous year.
