The Citroën C3 Aircross Electric: A Closer Look
The Citroën C3 Aircross is a versatile platform that offers both petrol and electric powertrains. The electric version, known as the ë-C3 Aircross, features a 111bhp motor on the front wheels powered by a 44kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack. This setup provides a driving range of 186 miles, with a larger battery option expected to extend this range to over 250 miles later this year. Both versions of the electric C3 Aircross can be recharged at rates up to 100kW via a DC charger.
Driving the ë-C3 Aircross around town offers a smooth and light handling experience, similar to its petrol counterpart. However, as speed increases, the weight of the electric powertrain becomes more noticeable. Despite this, the electric version feels slightly more planted on the road, enhancing stability.
The regenerative braking settings on the ë-C3 Aircross are set to a medium strength, making it easy to adapt to and allowing for most braking to be done without using the brake pedal. One downside is the lack of customizable regen levels and the absence of one-pedal driving mode, limiting the driver’s control over the braking system.
One criticism of the electric powertrain is its slightly laggy power delivery, lacking the immediate response found in other electric vehicles like the Vauxhall Corsa Electric. This lag may impact the overall driving experience for those accustomed to more responsive acceleration.
