The Aston Martin DBS Gets a Hot Rod Makeover with a Ford Mustang V8
The iconic Aston Martin DBS has been given a new lease on life as a hot rod, now powered by a Ford Mustang V8 engine. This transformation was made possible by American restomod and performance parts firm Ringbrothers, who have reimagined the classic GT with a modern twist.
The heart of this revamped DBS is a 5.0-litre Coyote engine that has been upgraded with a 2.65-litre supercharger, resulting in an impressive output of 805bhp. To handle this increased power, the original gearbox has been replaced with a Tremec six-speed manual unit, offering a smooth and responsive driving experience.
Not content with just upgrading the engine, Ringbrothers also made significant changes to the DBS’s structure. The chassis has been swapped for a new development by hot rod specialist Roadster Shop, featuring a longer wheelbase and wider track for improved stability and handling. Fox coilover suspension, upgraded brakes, and bespoke centre-lock wheels by HRE complete the performance enhancements.
Visually, the DBS has been transformed with a carbonfibre body kit painted in Double-0 Silver, paying homage to the Aston Martin’s association with the James Bond franchise. Inside, the cabin features a new carbonfibre dashboard, stainless steel accents, brass door handles, and luxurious tan leather upholstery.
Keeping with the Bond theme, the engine’s valve covers are branded with ‘Aston Martini’ and the oil dipstick is cleverly shaped like a Martini glass. This attention to detail showcases Ringbrothers’ commitment to creating a unique and stylish vehicle.
According to Jim Ring, co-owner of Ringbrothers, the inspiration behind the project was to envision what an MI6 agent would drive on vacation. The result is a stunning blend of classic elegance and modern performance, making the Ringbrothers DBS a true standout in the world of hot rods.
