Clavister, a Swedish cybersecurity company, has recently joined forces with NXP Semiconductors to develop advanced AI-driven cybersecurity solutions tailored for the automotive industry. This strategic partnership comes in response to the implementation of new UN regulations that call for heightened cybersecurity measures to safeguard vehicles from potential cyber threats.

By leveraging Clavister’s innovative AI technology in conjunction with NXP’s OrangeBox Automotive Connectivity Domain Controller Development Platform, the collaborative effort aims to enhance the security of connected vehicles. This entails thwarting malware intrusions and enabling real-time detection of cyber threats within automotive subsystems.

John Vestberg, the CEO of Clavister, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with NXP Semiconductors, a prominent player in the automotive sector. He highlighted the potential of Clavister’s AI-based cybersecurity technology to protect both current and future connected vehicles effectively.

The integration of Clavister’s AI and machine learning capabilities with NXP’s i.MX 9 platform is specifically designed to identify denial-of-service attacks by analyzing vehicle network traffic. This proactive approach seeks to fortify the security of next-generation vehicles against the escalating threat of cyberattacks.

Jim Bridgwater, Senior Director of Global Product Marketing for NXP Semiconductors’ automotive edge processing, emphasized the critical need for sophisticated cybersecurity solutions in light of the growing vulnerability of connected vehicles to cyber threats. The collaboration with Clavister aims to empower automakers to develop AI-driven telematics systems with robust security features to counter emerging cyber threats effectively.

The urgency for bolstered cybersecurity measures in the automotive industry has been underscored by the introduction of UN Regulation No. 155 by UNECE. This regulatory mandate requires vehicle manufacturers to implement cybersecurity management systems to mitigate cyber risks throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle.
