Continental AG, a leading automotive technology company, recently announced a significant milestone in its operations in China. On April 10, 2025, the company revealed the successful launch of its locally produced sixth-generation millimeter-wave radar, the ARS620, from its manufacturing facility in the region. This marks a significant achievement for Continental AG as it continues to drive innovation in advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) sensors.

The new sixth-generation radar, the ARS620, represents a significant upgrade over its predecessor in terms of performance, cost-efficiency, and compactness. One notable improvement is its ability to capture height data of detected objects, enhancing its overall functionality. The front radar, ARS620, is powerful enough to meet China’s AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) national standards independently. Additionally, the SRR630 corner radar, equipped with HBM high-bandwidth mode, can effectively replace ultrasonic sensors in parking scenarios, leading to a reduction in overall system costs.

Continental AG’s Autonomous Mobility division in China has further optimized the sixth-generation radar for local conditions, improving its cost-performance ratio and facilitating broader adoption of intelligent driving technologies in the region. The company’s commitment to combining “China speed” with “German quality” is evident in its approach to software and hardware development. The team has implemented an optimized lean development process for software, shortening development cycles to six months or less without compromising on quality. On the hardware front, Continental AG has established high-standard production lines to enable early mass production, giving them a competitive edge in the market.

Overall, Continental AG’s successful rollout of the locally produced sixth-generation millimeter-wave radar in China showcases its dedication to innovation and excellence in the automotive technology sector. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and optimizing products for local conditions, the company is paving the way for the widespread adoption of intelligent driving technologies in the region.
