The Microlino, a Swiss-designed and Italian-manufactured electric microcar, has just gotten even cooler with the introduction of two new versions aimed at enhancing summer city cruising. One version comes equipped with air conditioning, a much-needed comfort upgrade for those hot summer days. The other version, known as the Microlino Spiaggina, ditches most of its windows for a breezy, open-air beach buggy vibe.
Inspired by classic bubble cars like the 1950s BMW Isetta, the Microlino is a tiny, electric urban vehicle that seats two and has a top speed of 90 km/h (56 mph). It offers battery options that provide between 91 km and 230 km (57 to 143 miles) of range, making it perfect for zipping around emissions-free in city environments.
The new “COOL & Connect” package includes air conditioning, a premium interior, smartphone holder, and Bluetooth speaker, making the Microlino even more comfortable for daily use in warm climates. The Microlino Spiaggina, on the other hand, is a limited-edition open-air version with a rollable canvas top, yacht-inspired vegan leather seats, and a 10.5 kWh battery offering up to 177 km (110 miles) of range.
While these new versions are currently available in Europe through Micro’s online configurator, there is no word yet on a US release. The quadricycle classification of the Microlino complicates its potential entry into the US market, where low-speed vehicle categories limit speed to just 25 mph (40 km/h). However, as cities push for cleaner transportation options and more people opt for downsizing from traditional car ownership, vehicles like the Microlino may find a place in the American market in the future.
With its stylish design, compact size, and now with the added comfort of air conditioning, the Microlino is positioning itself as a fun and sustainable option for urban transportation. As the demand for electric microcars grows, the Microlino’s unique features and European charm could make it a standout choice for eco-conscious city dwellers looking for a stylish and practical alternative to traditional cars.
