China Dongfeng Motor Industry Import and Export Company (DFMIEC) has reported a significant increase in vehicle exports in August, with a total of 7,222 vehicles shipped to overseas markets. This represents an impressive 89% surge compared to the same period last year.

In the first eight months of 2024, DFMIEC exported a total of 40,927 vehicles, marking a notable 32% increase year-on-year. The company’s export performance is particularly strong in the passenger car segment, with 1,950 units of passenger cars under Dongfeng Motor’s own brands exported in August alone. This represents a remarkable 145% increase compared to the previous year. Cumulatively, the export volume of Dongfeng Motor’s wholly-owned passenger cars reached 14,891 vehicles in the Jan.-Aug. period, reflecting an impressive 84% growth from the previous year.

In the commercial vehicle segment, DFMIEC shipped 2,500 units overseas in August, demonstrating a robust 107% increase year-over-year. For the first eight months of 2024, the company exported a total of 14,038 commercial vehicles to international markets, marking a 65% increase from the previous year.

One notable milestone for Dongfeng Motor was the launch of its DONGFENG BOX all-electric vehicle in Kathmandu, Nepal on August 22. This marked the brand’s first official debut of a right-hand drive model in an overseas market. Dongfeng Motor has set ambitious targets for the DONGFENG BOX, aiming to secure around 500 orders in the local Nepalese market by the end of 2024.

Overall, Dongfeng Motor’s export arm has showcased remarkable growth and expansion in overseas markets, with a strong focus on both passenger and commercial vehicles. The company’s strategic initiatives and product launches have been well-received, paving the way for further success in the global automotive industry.
